MARGARET JOWETT trained at the Northern Theatre School, under the direction of the much respected actress, the late Esme Church.

After touring with a children’s theatre company, she worked as a stage director and actress in northern repertory companies, followed by personnel work in retail and industry. She founded and ran for twenty-seven years her own “Speech and Drama Workshop”, whilst teaching speech and drama at Leeds Girls’ High School and appearing on YTV.  Her tuition has equipped many young people with invaluable skills for both theatre and other professions.

Margaret is a member of Equity and The Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama. She hosts concerts, directs plays, runs Dickens workshops in schools, reads at London Concerts and has narrated Rachmaninoff’s Vespers for the Esterhazy Singers. Twenty years as a Tour Guide at Harewood House and Ripley Castle included costumed presentations such as “The Ladies of Ripley” and performances at the Bar Convent York.

Since 2021 Margaret has had the pleasure of hosting and organising the Boston Spa Methodist Church lunchtime concerts
