Born in Huddersfield Elaine studied Violin Performance and Teaching at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and has performed with the BBC and provincial orchestras, both here and abroad. She now lives in Leeds, where she teaches and plays at local events, and gives much of her time also to charitable entertainment. Elaine’s musical style ranges from Classical and popular classics to show-time, jazz and folk, - Something for everyone.

She says,  “ I am so pleased to be performing this ‘Melodies for You’ programmes of violin duets with my former student Katie Stone.


Katie grew up in Leeds and started learning the violin at 8years old, together with the flute and piano, also playing in school orchestras and singing in choirs. Although largely influenced by classical music, Katie enjoys a wide variety of music, having played violin in professional rock bands for over 10 years, touring throughout Europe and the UK, as well as contributing session violins for signed UK artists. She currently plays with the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra.  Katie holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Music Psychology in Education from Sheffield University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education and is studying for a PhD Psychology – ‘Enhancing Resilience in Young People,’ at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her love of music extends into her professional life as a psychological researcher and teacher for Manchester Metropolitan University, where her work focusses on how music and music therapy can be used to improve the lives of young people.
