Josh Hughes is an emerging classical guitarist praised for his expressive musicianship and polished technique. Josh studied at the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of Craig Ogden and has further developed his artistry through masterclasses with internationally renowned guitarists including Xuefei Yang and Gabriel Bianco. These experiences have helped shape a distinctive musical style that balances technical excellence with expressive depth. His repertoire spans music from the Renaissance through the Spanish Romantic tradition to contemporary works, offering listeners a varied and compelling concert experience.
He has performed in a wide range of venues, from major concert halls such as Buxton Opera House and the RNCM Concert Hall to festivals, cruise ships and more intimate recital settings. His performances are frequently noted for their warmth, musical clarity, and strong connection with audiences.
Alongside his solo career, Josh is an active chamber musician. He regularly performs with Joel Redfern as part of J2Duo, presenting dynamic and engaging guitar duo programmes across venues throughout the UK. He also has experience performing in larger ensembles and collaborating with orchestras, further reflecting his versatility as a musician.
